At its meeting on Wednesday, the Cantonal Council of Zug
- referred several motions, postulates and interpellations to the government for processing.
- validated the silent election of Ariana Nouri as a substitute member of the cantonal supreme court for the remainder of the 2019-2024 term of office.
- unanimously approved the implementation of the first stage of the care initiative, the so-called training offensive, at second reading.
- revised the Citizenship Act at second reading by 53 votes to 20. Accordingly, only those who have not received social welfare benefits for at least five years should be naturalized.
- approved the 2023 annual report and thus the 2023 annual financial statements. These closed with a profit of CHF 461 million on expenditure of CHF 1.698 billion. A profit of CHF 247 million was budgeted. The Council criticized Government Councillor Andreas Hostettler (FDP) for nepotism in the Directorate of Home Affairs. Specifically, this concerned private romantic relationships between managers in the workplace and the employment by appointment of family members and people who hold political office.
- took note of the annual report of the Child and Adult Protection Authority (Kesb).
- took note of the 2023 annual report and financial statements of Gebäudeversicherung Zug
- took note of the 2023 activity report of the Data Protection Officer of the Canton of Zug
- unanimously approved CHF 3.98 million for the replacement of the traffic signal system.
