A violent thunderstorm unloaded over eastern Switzerland on Sunday evening. Toggenburg and regions in Appenzell Innerrhoden were particularly affected. Cellars were flooded and streams burst their banks. There were no injuries.

The St. Gallen cantonal police dispatched around 20 fire department operations between 7 and 10 p.m., as police spokeswoman Melinda Kürsteiner told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Monday. In reality, however, there were probably significantly more operations during this time.

The police were unable to provide details of the operations and damage. According to current information, there were no injuries. The weather finally calmed down after 10 p.m. and no more reports were received by the police.
