Reimann took up office as Chief Public Prosecutor on May 1, 2020. He is relinquishing his position for personal reasons, the Canton of Obwalden's Department of Security and Social Affairs announced on Tuesday.

The canton is now looking for a new head of the public prosecutor's office. If the successor cannot be found by January 1, 2025, the deputy chief public prosecutor will take over the position ad interim, the press release added. The electoral authority is the cantonal council.
