The streetcar tracks between Brunnenhof and Fischermätteli in Bern are to be replaced. At the same time, further work is planned on water and utility lines, stops and the road itself. The project will be open to the public from August 19 to September 17, 2024.

The project will essentially be approved via a planning approval procedure under railroad law at federal level. This has now completed the preliminary review, as announced by the city and canton of Bern, the Bernmobil transport company and the city's energy supplier ewb on Monday.
The costs for the construction project total around CHF 42.6 million. The city of Bern is contributing 15.7 million francs. Voters will vote on the project next September.
If the ballot results in a yes vote, construction work is expected to begin in 2026, the press release explains further.
A cantonal building permit is required for the renovation and redesign of Veieliplatz and Munzinterplätzli planned by the City of Bern. The projects will also be put out to public consultation soon.
