In the general election in the canton of Basel-Stadt, six of the seven incumbent members of the cantonal government have achieved an absolute majority in the first round of voting, according to interim results from the State Chancellery. For the incumbent GLP government councillor Esther Keller, it will be a tight race.

After the postal votes have been counted, six of the seven members of government standing for re-election have exceeded the absolute majority of 22,118 votes: Tanja Soland (SP) with 32,424 votes, Kaspar Sutter (SP) with 27,813 votes, Conradin Cramer (LDP) with 26,987 votes and Lukas Engelberger (center) with 26,819 votes. Mustafa Atici (SP) also received 25,952 votes and Stephanie Eymann (LDP) 25,535 votes

According to the interim results, the absolute majority was not achieved by Esther Keller (GLP), who received 20,663 votes. Candidates Anina Ineichen (Greens) received 17,043 votes, Eva Biland (FDP) 15,325 and Stefan Suter (SVP) 14,099. Oliver Bolliger (Basta) received 13,575 votes and Eric Weber (People's Action) 2913 votes.
