Although this year's summer was short, Zurich's public swimming pools recorded just over two million admissions. Many sought to cool off, especially in the hot month of August.

The number of admissions is significantly lower than last summer, as the city announced on Wednesday. Back then, the pools recorded 400,000 more admissions. Nevertheless, the city is satisfied.

The 2 million mark has only been broken three times so far: in 2018, 2022 and 2023. The "rainy summer" of 2024 has now also joined this series of records.

The hot August in particular made up for the rainy early summer. Over 50 percent more admissions were recorded in this month than the average of the last 10 years. This summer proves once again that you should only take stock at the end of the season, according to the city.

The Auhof and Letzigraben outdoor pools and the Mythenquai and Tiefenbrunnen lidos will remain open until September 29. The swimming season lasts the longest at the Utoquai lido and the Seebach outdoor pool. They do not close until October 27. All other pools ended this year's season last Sunday.
