A severe thunderstorm in the St. Gallen region led to over 90 emergency calls to the police on Wednesday evening. They then called out several fire departments. People reported large amounts of water on the roads in particular. In some cases, water was also entering houses.

According to the St. Gallen cantonal police, there was initially no information about injuries. In addition to the city of St.Gallen, several surrounding communities were affected by the severe thunderstorm, particularly in the Degersheim, Gossau, Wittenbach, Mörschwil and Rorschach areas. The storm moved across the region between 6 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.
