The municipality of Ittigen has created a new infrastructure for water sports, leisure and local recreation in Reckmätteli under the Tiefenau bridge. The centerpiece is an elongated wooden building with a flat roof, the so-called infrastructure building, as the municipality wrote in a press release on Tuesday. It houses a restaurant and the Aare-Träff, which can be rented.
An entry and exit point for Aare boaters, canoes and heavier boats belonging to the water police and pontooners has been built on the banks.
Between Löchligut and Worblaufen, the canton implemented hydraulic engineering measures on the Aare to provide more protection against flooding and more nature. For example, it created a habitat for fish, particularly for the endangered grayling population, according to the press release.
The project cost a total of 12.5 million Swiss francs. The redesign of the Aare area amounted to around 7 million Swiss francs, the press release added. The costs for the infrastructure building amounted to CHF 5.5 million.
The new water sports and leisure center will be inaugurated with a celebration on Saturday.
