Weggis residents are to vote on a project planning loan of 800,000 francs for a renovated indoor swimming pool at the municipal assembly in December. Last summer, the municipal council stopped a new construction project.

A feasibility study for the renovation of the existing Weggis indoor pool has been drawn up, the municipal council announced on Wednesday. It has earmarked a total of ten million francs for this in its financial planning.

The feasibility study showed that, among other things, the pool's technology, including the pools, wet rooms and checkrooms, would have to be completely renovated, according to the press release.

Floors and wall coverings are also to be redone. The municipal council intends to dispense with the current sauna.

In addition, the entrance area and the current restaurant rooms are to be replaced in a new building. The municipality plans to install the technology and a new pool in a new basement.

The municipal council envisages a possible referendum at the end of 2025 or beginning of 2026. It is assuming a maximum construction period of two years, meaning that the renovated indoor pool could reopen in 2028.

In June last year, the municipal council stopped a new construction project because it was too expensive. The costs were not financially viable, it said.
