At the beginning of July, a passer-by reported to the police that he had just seen a man stealing bicycles at the Töss center. He filmed the theft and handed the video to the police. On the same day, an investigator recognized the perpetrator in the city centre and arrested him.

The 20-year-old Swiss national testified that he had stolen bicycles several times before, together with an acquaintance. The police arrested this accomplice, a 20-year-old Serbian, a short time later. Both testified that they had always sold the bicycles to the same person.

The police finally found 81 stolen bicycles in the alleged fence's warehouse in Glattbrugg. The fence was a 47-year-old Swiss man. He and his wife, a 40-year-old Kosovan woman, were also arrested.

The police have not yet been able to assign many of the stolen bicycles to an owner. They have therefore published the entire list of bicycles, including pictures, on their website. Anyone who recognizes their stolen bike should get in touch by 26 July.
