The latest edition of the Young Stage circus festival in Basel has been postponed due to the staging of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025. The international event for young artists will take place from September 18 to 22, as announced by the festival management on Wednesday.

The Young Stage Festival was originally due to take place in May 2025. With Basel being awarded the contract to host the ESC, the management has decided to postpone the event as previously announced. The ESC will occupy both the performance venue, the Messe Basel event hall, and the partner hotel in May, according to the press release. The postponement will result in additional costs for the festival.

As Barfüsserplatz will be at full capacity in September 2025, it will not be possible to hold an "open-air circus spectacle", which the organization team very much regrets, the press release continues. However, the "Circus Camp Weeks" during the summer vacations are planned for next year.

The Young Stage Festival will take place for the 16th and final time in September 2025, as the festival director announced in August. She cited increasing personnel resources and fundraising, which have grown with the size of the festival, as the reasons for this.
