Starting this autumn, Zentralbahn AG is modernizing the Niederrickenbach Station stop and making it barrier-free. It will not be served for two months due to the construction work, as announced by Zentralbahn on Monday.

The Niederrickenbach Station stop, which belongs to the municipality of Oberdorf, is too low and it is not possible to board and alight at ground level, Zentralbahn wrote in a statement. It does not comply with the applicable provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act. It is therefore to be rebuilt this fall.

The stop will not be in operation from October 14 to December 14, the Zentralbahn added. During this time, passengers will have to switch to Dallenwil station, which is around 700 meters away.

The first preparatory work will start next week. According to Zentralbahn, the work will take place during the day and at night with night closures.

The Niederrickenbach station will not be served on four evenings, the company announced. During this time, buses will run between Dallenwil and Engelberg.
