The STS hospital group, to which the Zweisimmen site belongs, announced on Wednesday that Swissmedic considers the points identified during the inspection to have been adequately remedied by outsourcing. The procedure has now been concluded.
In the affected area, it is important that the instruments required for surgical procedures are cleaned and hygienically prepared. Disposal, decontamination, storage and provision are also included.
With sermaX AG, the hospital has brought a certified and recognized specialist on board, according to STS. The necessary interfaces have been defined. According to STS, the partial changeover to disposable instruments on the wards and in emergencies is particularly affected.
The instruments prepared by sermaX will be supplied for all surgical procedures and nursing care so that operations can continue at Zweisimmen Hospital.
In recent years, there was talk of closing the ageing hospital in Zweisimmen. Various alternatives were examined, but all of them failed. After lengthy wrangling with the Canton of Berne over the takeover of the hospital by the private company Medaxo AG, the STS hospital group is now continuing to run the Zweisimmen site. It is now to develop a new operating concept.
