The new avalanche of traffic jams in front of the Gotthard portal had been on the cards. Traffic was already backed up for two kilometers between Wassen and Göschenen UR at 7 a.m., as the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) announced on Friday via the X short message service.

Traffic was also backed up at the Gotthard south portal: between Quinto and Airolo TI, the TCS recorded a traffic jam of four kilometers. Travelers had to reckon with a time loss of up to 40 minutes. Last weekend and the following Monday, there were already traffic jams at the Gotthard in both directions with a maximum length of 14 kilometers.
