It is rare for a computer problem to be felt worldwide. But now, after years, it has happened again.

Computer problems are causing widespread disruption worldwide. In Germany, Berlin and Hamburg airports, among others, had to temporarily shut down operations at the start of the vacations. According to media reports, the operation of banks and hospitals was also disrupted in other countries in addition to air traffic.
The Australian government convened an emergency meeting due to the global computer problems.
According to media reports, a bug in a program update from the IT security company Crowdstrike was suspected to be the cause. Among others, an energy company in Australia attributed the problems to this. Crowdstrike spoke of problems in a message to customers, as the technology website "The Verge" wrote.
The error at Crowdstrike had in turn disrupted Microsoft software, reported media such as the financial service Bloomberg. The software giant previously reported problems with its 365 cloud service.
Air traffic severely disrupted
In the USA, the FAA grounded flights operated by airlines such as United, American and Delta. The European low-cost airline Ryanair also reported problems. The Dutch airline KLM suspended most of its operations.
Zurich Airport has also suspended landings. However, flights with destination Zurich that are already in the air are still allowed to touch down, as the airport announced.
With the concentration in the software industry, it happens again and again that numerous companies are hit by problems with individual providers. For example, a cyberattack on the American IT service provider Kaseya in 2021 was felt as far away as Sweden, where the supermarket chain Coop had to close almost all of its stores.
