HC Davos gets back on track with two wins. After winning away in Zug, the Grisons beat the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 4-3 in overtime in their only game at home on Sunday.
Josh Holden's players finally put the 0:7 debacle of Tuesday in Langnau behind them, even if they initially let victory slip from their grasp in the final third. After three minutes of overtime, Finland's Julius Honka scored his second overtime goal of the season to give Davos victory.
Once again, the HCD made life difficult for themselves. After Andres Ambühl had been handed a match penalty for a check to the head on Tuesday and was suspended again, it was another veteran player, Michael Fora, who was sent to the dressing room for the same offense. St. Gallen took advantage of his penalty in the 46th and 50th minutes through Malte Strömwall and the double goal scorer Victor Rask to turn the game around from 1:3 to 3:3.
The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers missed the jump to the top of the table with their second defeat in a row, but have always scored in their first six games of the season. They are a welcome guest in the Landwasser Valley: since their last win in March 2022, they have now lost seven in a row in Davos.
