Femke Bol improves the European record over 400 m hurdles to 50.95 seconds at the international resisprint meeting in La Chaux-de-Fonds on Sunday.
The 24-year-old Bol, who trains under Fribourg's Laurent Meuwly, beat the continental record she set in London in July 2023 by exactly half a second. Her arrival in La Chaux-de-Fonds had been officially announced the day before.
The 2023 world champion and 2022 runner-up from the Netherlands ran the third-fastest 400-meter hurdles time in history. Only Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was even faster: the American ran 50.65 seconds at the recent US Championships, improving the world record she already held by three hundredths.
