Fabian Rieder for VfB Stuttgart and Bruno Ogbus for SC Freiburg make their first Bundesliga appearances in the direct duel of the first round. Dortmund's Gregor Kobel starts with a win.
SC Freiburg won their first Bundesliga match since December 2011 without Christian Streich on the sidelines with a 3-1 victory over Stuttgart. After Stuttgart's eye-catching opening goal by former St. Gallen player Ermedin Demirovic, right-back Lukas Kübler scored twice to become the match-winner for Freiburg, who are now coached by Julian Schuster.
Bruno Ogbus, the Swiss U19 international who is idolized by many big European clubs, came on for Kübler in the 82nd minute. Fabian Rieder had already come on for Stuttgart 20 minutes earlier and, like Ogbus, made his first Bundesliga appearance. On loan from Rennes, the Bernese striker quickly scored twice in his first competitive match for the Champions League side.
Dortmund thanks to Bynoe-Gittens
Rieder's national team colleague Gregor Kobel and Borussia Dortmund won 2:0 at home against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Englishman Jamie Bynoe-Gittens scored twice for the team of coach Nuri Sahin after individual actions (72nd and 93rd). Just seconds before the 0-1, Eintracht Frankfurt, playing without new signing Aurèle Amenda, had their best chance to score when Fares Chaibi shot across goal from a good position.
Hat-trick from Kramaric
In addition to Freiburg and Dortmund, Hoffenheim and Leipzig also won at home on Saturday. For Hoffenheim, 33-year-old Croatian Andrej Kramaric scored three goals in a 3-2 win over newly-promoted Holstein Kiel, who were playing their first game in the Bundesliga.
Leipzig beat Bochum 1-0 thanks to a goal from Norwegian talent Antonio Nusa, who scored shortly after coming on as a substitute, as he did in the Cup last weekend. It was the second defeat in the second game for coach Peter Zeidler, who joined Bochum from St. Gallen this season, a week after the Cup defeat to second-division side Regensburg.
