Swiss international Kwadwo Duah shines as a double scorer in the Champions League qualifiers, but fails to score with Ludogorez Rasgrad.
Kwadwo Duah misses out on the Champions League with Ludogorez Rasgrad. The 27-year-old striker scored two goals in the second leg of the third qualifying round at home against Karabakh Agdam, but the game was lost 2:7 after extra time.
Duah equalized in the 13th minute to make it 1:1 and even put the Bulgarian champions ahead ten minutes later with a penalty. However, the lead did not last long. In stoppage time of the first half, the visitors scored twice to turn the game around.
As the first leg had ended in a 2:1 victory for Ludogorez, the game went into extra time after a goalless second half. There, the champions from Azerbaijan scored four goals to decide the game.
Mourinho fails dramatically with Fenerbahce
José Mourinho also missed out on the play-offs with Fenerbahce Istanbul. The 19-time Turkish champions, who had eliminated FC Lugano in the previous round, were eliminated in dramatic fashion against Lille.
An own goal by Lille's Bafodé Diakité gave the traditional Istanbul club the lead in stoppage time. In the final stages of extra time, Canadian Jonathan David scored the equalizer with a penalty. The French side had to play short-handed from the 109th minute onwards due to a red card.
