Cup draw Stade Nyonnais against Basel again - reprise between GC and Thun

Challenge League club Stade Nyonnais will play FC Basel in the last 16 of the Swiss Cup for the third time in the club's history. This year's promotion/relegation barrage will be replayed between Thun and Grasshoppers. This was the result of the draw on Sunday evening.

At the end of May, Grasshoppers secured their place in the league in the barrage against promotion hopefuls Thun thanks to a late goal from Asumah Abubakar to make it 2-1 in the second leg. The first leg had ended 1-1. Stade Nyonnais knocked FCB out of the tournament at the beginning of 1999 in the round of 16 with a 4-2 victory on penalties. The two Basel missers were the current FC Lucerne coach Mario Frick and Attila Sahin. Almost nine years later, Basel got their revenge with a 2-0 win in the quarter-finals.

Defending champions Servette (Schaffhausen), Winterthur (Wil) and Lucerne (Aarau) will also have to assert themselves against clubs from the Challenge League. Emmen and Gambarogno-Contone, the last two remaining clubs from the 2nd interregional league, will face Yverdon and Bellinzona.

The matches will take place from September 13 to 15.
