With her silver medal on the final day in the Stade de France, Samba-Mayela prevented France's track and field athletes from missing out on the Olympic Games for the first time since 2000 in Sydney. Bronze went to Jasmine Camacho-Quinn from Puerto Rico, who won the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo three years ago, in 12.36.

800 m: Another gold for Kenya

With Emmanuel Wanyonyi, a Kenyan triumphed over the two laps of the track for the fifth time in a row. In 1:41.19 he set the third best time ever in the 800 m after Wilson Kipketer of Denmark (1:41.11) and the world record holder David Rudisha (1:40.91). Wanyonyi distanced the Canadian world champion Marco Arop by a mere hundredth of a second.

1500 m: Kipyegon like in Rio and Tokyo

Kenyan Faith Kipyegon runs to gold with a big lead. In 3:51.29 minutes, the now three-time Olympic champion, who had already triumphed over 1500 m in Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2021, distanced the competition by more than a second. Silver went to Australia's Jessica Hull, who finished five hundredths ahead of Great Britain's Georgia Bell.
