After losing 32:30 to Fredericia to open the main round of the European League, Kadetten Schaffhausen suffered a 24:36 defeat at home to Bundesliga side Hannover-Burgdorf.
Kadetten's anticipation for this game was huge, and they got off to a good start: They took a 5:3 lead in the 9th minute. After 8:9 (15th minute), Schaffhausen were always behind, but they did not allow themselves to be decisively caught up until the 37th minute. After 17:19, however, they then conceded five goals in a row to make it 17:24 (41') and break the resistance.
The Swiss champions' right wing Odinn Rickhardsson earned the best mark, scoring on eight of his nine shots. The return game against the 9th-placed team in the Bundesliga will take place next Tuesday, before the Kadetten face Danish side Fredericia in the final game of the main round in front of a home crowd.
Nexe Nasice also play in the same group. The results from the preliminary round against the Croatians (win and loss) were taken into the main round. The winner of the group advances to the quarter-finals, the second and third-placed teams reach the round of 16 and the last-placed team is eliminated.
