Swiss windsurfer Elia Colombo narrowly misses out on the semi-finals in the iQ Foil. In the quarter-finals, the 28-year-old from Ticino finished in 3rd place in his Olympic debut.
Only the first two in the Medal Series qualified for the next round of the sailing competition in Marseille, which has now been added to the Olympic program. The Dutchman Luuc van Opzeeland came out on top ahead of the Brit Sam Sills. Colombo, who just made it through qualifying in tenth place, was eight seconds short of the surprise that would have been synonymous with a medal.
