Annemarie Eilfeld took part in "DSDS" in 2009. She came third.
Today she advises newcomers not to take part in a TV casting show.
Annemarie Eilfeld is not a big fan of casting shows. The singer ("Keine Panik") started her career on "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" in 2009. But the mother of a young son has no fond memories of it.
Asked in the podcast "Aber bitte mit Schlager" whether she would advise young talents to take part in DSDS, she gave a clear answer: "Absolutely not." She often works as a vocal coach and also gives a clear message: "I tell the candidates: 'Think about it one-two-three times whether you want to do it'." They usually take her advice.
The artist has repeatedly talked about how she felt unsupported on the show. "It's actually a stepping stone, but in the end the ladder is pulled out of the water you've jumped into," said the 33-year-old, describing how she was ultimately left alone with the challenges of sudden fame.
Annemarie Eilfeld was not protected
Annemarie Eilfeld also criticized how little the contestants were protected from the media at the time. Even though the team of local coaches and dance trainers were very nice: "At the end of the day, they couldn't save us from the media and what was done to us. It's still a huge trauma for me."
But she also knows that she is one of the few contestants who still has a career in the music scene. The former "DSDS" star also sees major changes in the industry and is also guided by the changing tastes of consumers. "Albums have been out of date for years. People's attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. You don't make singles that are longer than three minutes anymore. So I've increasingly focused on singles," said Annemarie Eilfeld, describing how she has maintained her relevance in the pop world.
