Temperatures of up to 34 degrees will prevail at Gampel 2023. Despite the monkey heat, it's not the hottest festival ever, says the media manager. And festival professionals give blue Music their tips for keeping a cool head.

  • Openair Gampel will take place from August 17 to 20, 2023 in Gampel VS.
  • The good news for all music fans who can't make the pilgrimage to Valais this time: blue Music will be broadcasting the best live concerts.

Even in the early afternoon, the Gampel site resembles an oven. It's so hot you could melt the raclette cheese on the floor, it would work.

It's monstrously hot - up to 34 degrees. If you walk across the site, it feels even hotter, as if you were walking through the Sahara desert. After a few meters, everything is soaked with sweat and you flee into the shade.

Despite the heat alarm at Gampel, it's not the hottest festival summer ever, says media spokesman Olivier Imboden in an interview with blue Music host Daniel Fanslau.

Olivier Imboden: "Gampel is always hot, we've already had 38 degrees". There were 350 patient contacts in the medical tent by Saturday afternoon, according to the media spokesman. But none of them were heat exhaustion.

Because the festival organizers have taken precautions. There are shade tents on the site, security is on the move with water bottles and hoses and there is a snow cannon in front of the main stage.

There are many concert-goers at Gampel who have been here several times and are familiar with the hot Valais conditions on the site - and can cope with them.

Despite the heat alert, the atmosphere at the open air is at an all-time high.

Daniel Fanslau, blue Music Host, asked the Gampelians for the best heat tips.

You can see all the tips and tricks in the video above.
