Jürgen Drews was diagnosed with the nerve disease polyneuropathy.
The singer has ended his career and spends his time in company on a horse farm.
His daughter Joelina Drews now tells us how the pop icon is currently doing.
Jürgen Drews (78) ended his stage career in January. The singer ("Ein Bett im Kornfeld") was forced to do so by the nerve disease polyneuropathy. His daughter Joelina Drews (27) now talks about how her dad is doing in retirement.
Often exhausted and plagued by dizziness
The star has now discovered the garden as a refuge for himself. "He is outside very often, accompanies my mom to the riding stables," the musician told "Bunten". But she also said that things don't always run smoothly.
"The disease doesn't always make it easy for him, of course, and there are days when he's exhausted and complains of dizziness." With polyneuropathy, the nerves are damaged and symptoms include tingling, burning or numbness in the feet and legs. For someone as active as the pop star, this is difficult to put up with.
Encouraged by his daughter
But Jürgen Drews' family stands by him and supports him as best they can. His daughter often makes an appearance. "I always notice that he totally blossoms when my boyfriend and I visit him and spend time with him. We show him the latest music, the latest documentaries and series on Netflix and talk about music, the business and lots of other things."
Jürgen Drews still wants to know what's hot at the moment. "You can tell that he really enjoys this exchange, especially with the younger generation."
The family has recently been hit hard by fate. The star is not the only one struggling with his health; his wife Ramona (49) also had reason to be very worried in the spring.
"My mom was diagnosed with cancer in the spring, it was a malignant skin tumor. It was a huge shock for our whole family. We were terrified of losing her," Joelina recently told Bild. Fortunately, the cancer was removed and had not spread. Everyone could breathe again.
