The Dutch father injured in the hotel collapse in the Moselle town of Kröv has been placed in an induced coma. "His condition is not good," said a spokesman for the Trier police in Kröv on Sunday. The man is being treated in intensive care in a hospital in Trier. It was a matter of "injury patterns that can occur after being buried for a long time". He could not give any further details for reasons of personal privacy.

The police chaplain of the diocese of Trier, Hubertus Kesselheim, announced that he would be prayed for before a church service in the small Moselle wine village. In the morning, citizens of Kröv and emergency services gathered in the parish garden at the church in Kröv to remember and pause for thought.
Two people lost their lives in the hotel collapse late on Tuesday: a 64-year-old woman and the 59-year-old hotel owner, whose buried body was recovered early on Saturday morning. The Dutchman was among a total of seven injured people who were rescued from the rubble after the accident on Wednesday. His wife and their two-year-old son were also rescued.
Demolition work continued on Sunday. Debris and rubble were being removed, said the police spokesman. He could not say how long the work would take. The expert would specify how deep the structure had to be in order to draw up his report. "The roof is completely gone."
