US President Joe Biden remains committed to becoming the Democratic presidential candidate. When asked in a television interview on NBC News on Monday evening (local time) whether anything had changed in his plans in recent days, the 81-year-old replied with a firm "no".

Journalist Lester Holt also asked Biden who he listened to when it came to this very personal decision. To which he replied: "Me." He added: "I'm old, but only three years older than Trump." His mental acuity is "damn good". He had achieved "more in three and a half years than any other president in a long, long time".

As to whether he would be open to further debates against Trump to correct the performance of the first, and possibly in the next few weeks, the Democrat replied: "I will debate him, as we agreed - I will debate him in September."
