Cause of fire clarified Negligence led to house fire in Meinisberg

The fire in an apartment building in Meinisberg in mid-March was caused by negligence in the handling of smoking materials. This is the result of an investigation by the Bern cantonal police.

The damage to property amounted to several hundred thousand francs, as the police wrote in a statement on Monday.

An attic fire had made an apartment building in Meinisberg in the Seeland region temporarily uninhabitable on March 18. No one was injured.

The residents of the house were able to make their own way to safety. They were checked on site by an ambulance team, but did not need to be hospitalized.
