The Lucerne police want to carry out more speed checks in the 30 km/h zone in Wauwil when school starts next week. In the past, people have often driven too fast on the village road.

The 30 km/h zone in Wauwil is located right next to the school building. The Lucerne police announced on Monday that there have been a number of incidents in this section where road users have not adhered to the speed limit. The police will therefore carry out speed checks in the 30 km/h zone around the start of school on August 19. According to the press release, the 30 km/h speed limit has been in force on Dorfstrasse in Wauwil for over a year.

The aim of the campaign is to increase the safety of schoolchildren, it says.

The police have also announced that speed checks will be extended to other municipalities in the canton of Lucerne. Especially near school buildings and in 30 km/h zones. In other municipalities in the canton of Lucerne, too, speed limits are often not observed near schools or in 30 km/h zones.
