The A6 highway between Thun-Süd and Spiez will be renovated from the end of July until probably fall 2027. During this time, traffic will be maintained at a reduced width and reduced speed limit, as announced by the Federal Roads Office (Astra) on Thursday.

The aim of the work is to renew all components of the infrastructure and bring them up to standard. According to Astra, ecological upgrading is also part of the overall renovation, for example in the form of dry sites for animals.

The communiqué states that there will be traffic restrictions while the construction site is being set up. On July 30 and 31 and from August 6 to 8 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the normal or emergency lane between Thun-Süd and Lattigen will be closed in the direction of Spiez.

The Buchholz rest area will also be used as an installation site and then renewed. It will therefore not be accessible to road users from last June until around March 2027.

Thun-Spiez is the last section of the A6 maintenance project between Rubigen and Spiez. The Rubigen to Thun-Süd section has already been renovated from 2015 to 2022. After more than 40 years of operation, a complete renovation was necessary.
