The 54-year-old Kupper from Laupersdorf brings a wealth of experience and is very well connected in the canton, the center announced on Friday. He is close to the people and can also forge compromises. The party presidency unanimously proposed Kupper to the delegates' meeting in August.

54-year-old Sandra Kolly, who has been a member of the cantonal government since 2021, intends to stand for re-election on March 9, 2025. She is head of the Department of Construction and Justice. The electorate has so far approved all of Kolly's voting proposals, the center noted.

Two of the five seats on the cantonal council are vacant in the general election. Brigit Wyss (Greens) and Remo Ankli (FDP) are no longer standing. According to their own statements, the Greens and the FDP want to defend the vacant seats. It remains to be seen who they will field in the race.

Peter Hodel (FDP) and Susanne Schaffner (SP) will run again. The SVP has so far failed in all attempts to win a seat on the executive.
