The replacement buses will run from Heuwaage in Basel to the Hüslimatt stop in Oberwil BL. During the final phase of the double-track expansion, the tracks on both sides of the new line will be connected to the existing rail network. The points to the temporary track will be removed and the missing sleepers and track meters will be set in concrete. This work could not be carried out during ongoing operations.
Most of the new track between Binningen Castle and Gorenmattstrasse has been laid, according to the press release. The work is progressing on schedule.
The double track extension at Spiesshöfli covers a distance of around 350 meters and cost just under 37 million Swiss francs. Twelve properties had to be demolished for the second track line.
