Barbara Reifler has headed the Office of Corrections of the Canton of St. Gallen since 2020. On December 1, she will take over from the interim commander, Christian Aldrey. He took over the office temporarily last May following the early retirement of the previous police commander.

After completing her basic commercial training, the new commander also graduated from the Canton of Thurgau Police School. Between 1998 and 2007, she worked as a police officer in the cantons of Thurgau and Lucerne. While working, she completed the Matura school for adults and then went on to study law at the University of Lucerne.

Reifler later worked for the public prosecutor's office in Zug and then headed the Thurgau youth prosecutor's office for twelve years.
