A traffic controller and a motorcyclist were seriously injured in a traffic accident in Dürnten ZH on Friday evening. A car driver who was also involved in the accident was uninjured, according to the cantonal police on Saturday afternoon.

The 44-year-old female driver was driving towards Dürnten at around 9.45 pm. For reasons that were still unclear according to the police on Saturday, the woman overlooked the fact that the motorcyclist in front of her had been stopped by a traffic controller to allow pedestrians to pass. She then crashed her car into the 23-year-old motorcyclist, who subsequently collided with the traffic controller.

The motorcyclist and the 56-year-old traffic controller suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital by ambulance after first aid. A blood and urine test was ordered for the female driver.

The exact cause of the accident is being investigated by the Zurich cantonal police and the Lake/Oberland public prosecutor's office. Due to the accident, the Edikerstrasse had to be closed in the affected section for several hours.
