Two drivers crashed their cars in the canton of Zug on Saturday night. One drove his car into a cornfield, another damaged a highway guardrail over a length of 90 meters.

Shortly after 1.30 a.m., a 23-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle on the way from Baar to Zug, according to police reports. He veered off the road to the right, knocked over a signalization board and broke through several fences. After around 55 meters, he came to a standstill in a cornfield.

The intoxicated man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by the ambulance service. A blood and urine test was ordered for him.

At 5.30 a.m., there was a crash on the A14 highway shortly before the Rütihof junction. Another 23-year-old driver lost control of his car on the wet road. It crashed into the central crash barrier, spun on its axis and came to a standstill in the overtaking lane. The driver who caused the accident escaped with a fright and remained uninjured.

Both cars were totaled.
