The city of Thun will manage the Culture and Convention Center itself in future. This was decided by the municipal council, as announced on Friday.

The City of Thun intends to run the Culture and Convention Center (KKThun) as a city-owned public limited company in future. This will ensure the continuity and stability of operations, as stated in the press release.

"With its cultural events, conferences and meetings, the KKThun makes a significant contribution to the image of our city. With the solution of a city-owned public limited company, we are creating stability. Existing networks and contacts can be continued," councillor Katharina Ali-Oesch is quoted as saying.

The AG will be founded in the coming months. The municipal council has approved commitment credits totaling CHF 200,000. The new public limited company should be operational by summer 2025.

Until now, KKThun has been managed by SV (Schweiz) AG. The latter has waived the contractually stipulated option to extend the company for a further three years until the end of 2027. The exhibitions and congresses business is no longer part of the company's strategic focus.
