Construction work Wettsteinallee in Basel is closed during the summer vacation

Wettsteinallee between Peter Rot-Strasse and Schwarzwaldallee in Basel will be closed during the summer vacation. Cars, bicycles and bus routes 34 and 42 will be rerouted from July 1 to August 11, 2024, as announced by the Department of Construction and Transport (BVD) on Thursday.

The reason for this is the construction work to renovate the Wettsteinallee-Grenzacherstrasse area. The supply lines and road surface are being renewed. This work will be completed at the end of September after three and a half years. The neighboring streets in the project perimeter have already been renewed.

The work in the Wettstein district is intended to improve road safety and create space for a total of 110 additional trees, according to the BVD. Wettsteinallee and Peter Rot-Strasse are to become continuous avenues of trees again.

During the closure of Wettsteinallee, a detour for bicycles via Grenzacherstrasse will be signposted. Bus routes will also use this road. However, bus 34 will temporarily not serve the Wettsteinallee and Peter Rot-Strasse stops. Pedestrians are not affected by the closure, according to the statement.
