Swiss canoeist Alena Marx qualifies for the semi-finals in the single canoe without shining. In the Olympic whitewater channel in Vaires-sur-Marne, she paddles to 16th place.
Marx struggled in the second heat and was unable to improve on her time from the first round. With a run time of 1:49.66 minutes, she lost more than ten seconds to the best time of Gabriela Satkova from the Czech Republic.
On Wednesday, the 23-year-old from Bern wants to achieve what she was denied in the single kayak by qualifying for the final. However, this will require an improvement in performance. Only the top eight will compete for the medals in the final.
From Friday, Marx will also be competing in the kayak cross. In her strongest discipline, the European champion reckons she has a chance of precious metal.
