False start for the champions Real Madrid only get a draw on Mbappé's league debut in Mallorca - Mendy sent off

Kylian Mbappé remains unbeaten with Real Madrid. However, the French superstar and his team failed to secure a win in their first league game in Spain.

The favored Champions League winners Real Madrid let a victory slip from their grasp on Kylian Mbappé's league debut in Spain. The Whites, with the French superstar in the starting eleven, came from 1-0 down to draw 1-1 with RCD Mallorca and drop two points on the first matchday.

Rodrygo (13 minutes) gave the defending champions, who face Real Valladolid in their first home game next Sunday, an early lead. However, Vedat Muriqi (53) equalized. In stoppage time, Ferland Mendy was shown the red card for a hard foul on Real (90.+7).

Overall, Madrid were not consistent enough in attack. Mbappé missed even the best chances and failed to score. Following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain last season, he had previously celebrated a dream debut at Real. Madrid had won the European Super Cup against Atalanta Bergamo last Wednesday. Mbappé scored his first goal for the club.

The attacking star joined on a free transfer from PSG and signed a contract until 2029. Madrid fans have high hopes of a title-winning future with the 2018 World Cup winner.
