Uruguay wins the Copa América 3rd place match against Canada 4:3 on penalties. The score was 2:2 after regulation time.

Luis Suarez saved Uruguay with his goal in the 92nd minute in the penalty shoot-out. He and his team-mates held their nerve in the shoot-out. While Ismaël Koné and Alphonso Davies missed on Canada's side, all of the South Americans' attempts were saved - 37-year-old Suarez the last.

Rodrigo Bentancur had already put Uruguay ahead in the 8th minute. Canada turned the game around through Koné (22) and Jonathan David (80). Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa had the right instinct when he took the ineffective Darwin Nunez out of the game early in the break and brought on the ageing Suarez.

Uruguay were eliminated in the semi-final by Colombia (1-0), who will face world champions and defending champions Argentina in the final in Miami on Sunday. The Albiceleste could become the tournament's sole record winners with another triumph - their 16th in total. Uruguay has also won the Copa America 15 times to date.
