England's new national team coach Thomas Tuchel is looking forward to moving back to the island for his new job. "I love living in England," said Tuchel, who was unveiled as coach of the Three Lions on Wednesday. "I want to be close to the Premier League and to most of the players." He had already lived in London during his time as coach of Chelsea FC.

Great Britain is very close to his heart. "It's the country, it's the humor, it's the way of life and the attitude," said the 51-year-old, who will start his new job on January 1. It had been known for some time that Tuchel wanted to return to England after leaving FC Bayern. "I have always felt very welcome here. And that's why I'm very happy to be back here."

Clear goal: World Cup title in 2026

Tuchel has set himself an ambitious goal in his new role. He wants to win the 2026 World Cup with England, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico. It would be the first title for the Three Lions in 60 years. "We are clear about what we want to achieve. We're absolutely open about it," said the former Bayern coach. "But it doesn't help if we talk about it, because we also have to deliver."

Tuchel promised attacking and physical football, "because that is typical of English football." At the same time, however, he also had to deliver results. According to the new coach, the fact that England have not won a tournament on home soil since the 1966 World Cup title is also a bit of bad luck. "It's just nuances, just details, if you lose on penalties or lose in the final," he said. "How could I presume to say: you did something wrong."
