The Swiss orienteers also succeed in the final knockout sprint at the Sprint World Championships in Edinburgh. Riccardo Rancan wins gold, Simona Aebersold bronze.

28-year-old Rancan from Zurich won the men's final 1.1 seconds ahead of Norway's Jörgen Baklid and 1.9 seconds ahead of Sweden's Jonatan Gustafsson, celebrating his biggest success to date as an individual skier. Joey Hadorn had to settle for 4th place.

In the women's final, Aebersold, who finished second in the sprint on Friday and won the mixed relay together with Rancan, Hadorn and Natalia Gämperle on Sunday, lost out to Sweden's Tove Alexandersson and Karolin Ohlsson.

Switzerland thus left the championships in Scotland with six medals.
