With Nikita Ducarroz (BMX), Jérémy Desplanches and Noè Ponti (swimming), three medal winners from Tokyo 2021 have been selected. In addition, Nils Stump, the 2023 judo world champion, has been selected - and for the first time ever in Olympic history, a climber and a golfer will be competing for Switzerland in Paris.

Swiss Olympic has selected a total of 16 other athletes: eight in swimming, three in judo, two in modern pentathlon and one each in BMX freestyle, climbing and golf.

Eight swimmers

In swimming, one woman and seven men are taking part: Lisa Mamié, Thierry Bollin, Antonio Djakovic, Roman Mityukov and Noè Ponti - as well as Tiago Behar, Jérémy Desplanches and Nils Liess, who will only be taking part in the relay races. Three years ago in Tokyo, Switzerland was represented by seven athletes, with Ponti (bronze in the 100 m dolphin) and Desplanches (bronze in the 200 m medley) winning medals. The 24-year-old Bollin and the 22-year-old Behar are taking part in the Olympic Games for the first time.

Judo: World champions plus two debutants

In judo, Swiss hopes are pinned on Nils Stump. Three years ago in Tokyo, Stump lost his first fight. Since then, the Zurich native has won gold (2023 World Championships) and bronze (2024 World Championships) in the weight class up to 73 kilos. Binta Ndiaye and Daniel Eich are taking part in the Summer Games for the first time.

Returning athletes and premieres

Nikita Ducarroz, bronze medal winner three years ago in Tokyo, is taking part in the Olympics for the second time, just like her discipline (BMX freestyle). Golfer Joel Girrbach is the first Swiss golfer ever to make the Olympic team. Sascha Lehmann from Bern is the first Swiss climber to make the team. After 16 years (and for the first time since Beijing 2008), Switzerland is also represented again in the modern pentathlon with Anna Jurt and Alexandre Dällenbach.

The final selections will be made on Monday. Swiss Olympic is expecting a Swiss delegation of 120 athletes.
