Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is crowned double Olympic champion in the 400 m hurdles. The American improves her own world record by 28 hundredths.

The eagerly awaited duel between McLaughlin-Levrone and the Dutchwoman Femke Bol was clearly in the American's favor. Although Bol was able to keep up until halfway through the race, she collapsed on the home straight and had to settle for bronze.

McLaughlin-Levrone improved the world record she set in July by almost three tenths, crossing the finish line in 50.37 seconds. She thus secured her second Olympic victory after the one in Tokyo in 2021. World champion Femke Bol also came third back then. McLaughlin-Levrone's compatriot Anna Cockrell took silver in the Stade de France.
