Track specialist Valère Thiébaud sets a Swiss hour record on the 250 m wooden oval in Grenchen.

The 25-year-old from Neuchâtel covered 53.451 km and improved Claudio Imhof's record from 2020 by a whopping 1.335 km.

He had prepared this attempt very well together with national coach Julien Bossens and invested a lot of time in the position on the bike and in pacing, said the Tokyo 2021 Olympic participant. "I was even a little faster than planned."

Thiébaud was 3.341 km short of the hour world record, which the Italian Filippo Ganna had also set on the Grenchen track in October 2022. The two-time time trial world champion covered 56.792 km in one hour.
