Jonas Vingegaard rides into the leader's jersey on the second day of the Tour of Poland. The favored Dane takes 2nd place in the mountain time trial and makes up three positions in the overall standings.

Five years ago, Vingegaard celebrated his first victory as a professional at the Tour of Poland as a completely unknown quantity. The next day, however, the overall victory slipped away from him as the wearer of the leader's jersey. This year, Vingegaard (after a longer recovery period) is the top favorite for the week-long World Tour.

Nevertheless, he was beaten by nine seconds by the Belgian stage winner Tim Wellens in the 15.4 km uphill individual time trial. In the overall standings, the winner of the 2022 and 2023 Tour of France and this year's overall runner-up is 24 seconds ahead of second-placed Dutchman Wilco Kelderman.

Jan Christen and Yannis Voisard can also hope for a good result in Poland. The two young Swiss riders put themselves in a favorable position on Tuesday with 9th and 12th place in the time trial. They are 9th and 13th in the overall standings, 49 (Voisard) and 57 (Christen) seconds behind.
