Célia Dupré and Raphaël Ahumada win the bronze medal in the mixed double sculls at the World Championships in Shanghai.
In a photo finish against the Italian team, the Swiss duo came out on top by seven hundredths.
The woman from Geneva and the man from Morges took an offensive approach to the race and were still in the lead at the halfway point. Ireland and the Netherlands overtook them in the second 1000 m and were out of reach. Italy's race to catch up was only just held off.
Switzerland thus won a second bronze medal at the World Championships in Asia, after Patrick Brunner and Jonah Plock had already finished third in the Olympic double sculls.
The mixed double sculls is not an Olympic event and was rowed for the first time at the World Championships. In addition, the rules state that only athletes who have already competed in a boat class at these World Championships are eligible to take part.
