Things looked bad for Olten after 16 minutes. Thurgau, who had finished the regular season in 2nd place, led 3:0, with Victor Backman scoring twice on the power play. However, the visitors reduced the deficit before the first break thanks to a brace from Simon Sterchi (19th) and Jayce Hawryluk (20th) in the space of 48 seconds. The score was 3:3 after 40 minutes, with Silvan Wyss scoring the ultimately decisive 4:3 for the EHCO after 35 seconds in the final period.

Qualification winners Sierre defeated the GCK Lions 6-3 after trailing 1-2. Jordan Bougro contributed a goal and three assists to the Valais team's victory. Visp, champions of the Swiss League last season, started the playoffs with a 2:1 home win after overtime against Basel. Oliver Heinen scored the golden goal in the 68th minute. Visp had lost all five matches against Basel in the qualifiers.

La Chaux-de-Fonds defeated Chur 5:2, although it had to concede an equalizer in the meantime after taking a quick 2:0 lead. Noah Böhler scored twice for the team from Neuchâtel, while Emil Molin notched up three assists.
