Rifle shooter Christoph Dürr suffered a major disappointment in the qualifying round of the 50 m small bore three-position competition.
The 28-year-old from St. Gallen only scored 586 points, which was enough for 22nd place. Dürr, who finished fifth in last year's World Championships, was well on course after the kneeling and prone shooting, but missed a few shots in the standing position.
A score of 590 points was required to advance to the top 8 final. The best qualifier was Liu Yukun from China with an Olympic record of 594 points.
